Washington University Student Associates (WUSAs – pronounced “woo-sas”) are upperclass student leaders who guide residents during orientation and assist during the first year transition to Washington University. Their primary duties are to remind residents about academic deadlines, policies and resources and to help build community among freshman floors or transfer/exchange groups.

The First Year Center Executive (FYX) is responsible for helping to create, plan and implement programs that aid new students and their parents in their academic, social, and personal transition to Washington University. They are also responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of a team of Washington University Student Associates (WUSAs) who serve as resources for new students and their parents.
