Welcome to the Washington University's Office of Residential Life! Our program consists of the South 40 and the North Side where over 4,000 students call Residential Life home during the school year. Nicknamed "the 40" because it is forty acres located directly South of the Danforth Campus, this space is home to about 3000 residents in twenty three Residence Halls, recreational space, computer clusters, campus eateries, and much, much more.
“The 40” is a place to study, sleep, eat, relax, and make new friendships. Many of our upperclass students live on the North Side, which is located at the Northwest corner of the Danforth Campus. The North Side consists of The Village and our on and off campus apartments, each of which provide a variety of programs and amenities for students to enjoy.
Residential Life's guiding principles are Live. Learn. Lead, which guides our work and our initiatives. More can be found out about our mission and guiding principles by clicking here.
