Welcome to William Greenleaf Eliot (WGE)
Dear 2012- 2013 Residents,
Hello and welcome to the Danforth, Wheeler, and Shepley Houses known as the William Greenleaf Eliot Residential College (a.k.a WGE, sounds like wiggy). I am thrilled to have you join our community! My name is Robert Brown and I am your Residential College Director (RCD). I am excited to work on a campus with such intelligent, inspired, and friendly students.
The WGE residential community is comprised of one first-year building, Danforth, and two upperclass buildings, Shepley and Wheeler. Residents quickly find a themselves immersed in a tight-knit community with their floor mates. The WGE Resident Advisors (RAs) are anxiously awaiting your arrival and have already begun to diligently plan events for this upcoming year. These events and programs will engage you and your community in areas of diversity, self-awareness, interpersonal skills, citizenship, personal wellness, as well as many first-year specific needs.
As an incoming or returning WGE resident you are encouraged to participate in and even coordinate and lead these activities. We encourage you to consider taking on a leadership role be it as a member of College Council or casually through your actions, participation, and presence. Through collaboration the council members facilitate fun activities and events for the residential college. Previous programs include attending musicals at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, Casino Night, WGE Super Bowl Party, St. Louis professional sporting events, cook outs, attending WashU athletic home games, intramural sports, community service projects, and great study breaks filled with food, just to name a few! The RAs and College Council will continue with WGE’s great tradition by hosting numerous celebrations which honors the spirit of this residential college.
This website is designed to help orient you with your new home. Please take some time to peruse the site. There are many people involved in the leadership of WGE; check them out under the 'WGE Staff' and 'Faculty Involvement’ menu tabs. If you are interested in finding out more about College Council make sure to explore that section as well.
